Actor: Mark Stephen | Character: Daynar Briggs
|
Mark Stephen |
|
Born and raised in and around Chicago, Mark developed his love for theater when he was first rejected for Thornton Wilder's "Our Town," during his sophomore year in high school. Always wanting what he can't have, Mark decided that acting was the job for him.
Attending the University of Illinois, and further developing his love for theater, he studied and acted during his entire 4 years at school. After graduating, he headed back to Chicago to try his hand at the professional scene.
There in the city, his first professional show was Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," in which he played Sebastian. It was at a rundown old theater on the West Side called Realism Update, complete with rats, broken toilet, and no stage. This was his introduction to the artistic life.
While working a day job, and performing at night, Mark's resume grew and grew. He began to work with more and more theater companies, including Shakespeare's Motley Crew, The Hypocrites, Red Moon, Eclipse, and Roadworks. He started auditioning for commercials, industrials, and voice-over and began to work with such names as Gilette, Budweiser, Sony, Walgreen's, Sally Beauty Supply, and Motorola just to name a few. He also began to get roles in film and TV including a role in the award-winning short "If You Step on a Crack," and shooting music videos for artist such as Syleena Johnson, and Louis XIV. The last show he performed was an award-winning production of "Blood Wedding" at the Theater on the Lake in Chicago. This was his "adieu" to Chi-town, and Mark relocated to Los Angeles in late 2004.
He has been in Los Angeles for a little over a year, but has made much progress, and is excited and looking forward to the future. Currently, he has a film called "The Achievers" that is to be screened at the San Francisco Film Festival. In September, he shot a Star Wars spec pilot for George Lucas. He is currently working on "Itty Bitty Titty Committee" with the award-winning production company POWER UP.
